Teachers’ voice: Aspasia K. – Teaching with innovation and heart

Published by dienabou on

At European Schoolnet Academy, we believe every learning journey can spark change through innovative teaching practices. Over the years, thousands of teachers across Europe have taken our MOOCs, bringing fresh ideas and new strategies into their classrooms. Behind each course is not only knowledge, but also a story of challenges, discoveries, and students inspired. In this series, we share the voices of educators who turned their learning into action.

Through these stories, we get a peek inside the classroom of teachers who have brought their learning to life. We’re starting with Aspasia K., from Greece, whose journey shows how even small steps of innovation can make a big difference for her students.

A teacher on a mission: Finding fresh ways to inspire

For Aspasia K., teaching has always been about more than lessons and exams, it’s about giving her students the tools to think critically, collaborate, and grow. Yet a few years ago, she felt the need for something more. She wanted to bring innovation into her classroom, especially in STEM and digital citizenship, but was searching for fresh strategies and practical ways to do so.

It was at that moment that she discovered the European Schoolnet Academy MOOCs.

In the past two years, Aspasia has taken every course available; each one giving her fresh ideas and practical tools she could bring straight into her classroom.

The power of peer inspiration

What struck her most during these courses wasn’t only the interactive resources or ready-to-use lesson scenarios (though those became instant favourites) but also the community of peers.

Exchanging ideas with other educators gave me fresh perspectives and boosted my confidence,”

It was both inspiring and practical, and it reminded her that teaching is never a solitary journey.

The impact of small changes, big results

Back in her classroom, the impact was immediate. Aspasia applied innovative teaching practices, weaving digital tools and lesson scenarios into her teaching, transforming lessons into spaces where students could participate actively, think critically, and collaborate more deeply. The results were visible: her students were more engaged, more curious, and more confident in their learning. For her, this journey has also changed how she sees herself as a teacher. No longer just a source of knowledge, she now embraces her role as a facilitator; someone who creates opportunities for students to explore and lead their own learning.

It reinforced the importance of integrating innovative tools and approaches to prepare students for the challenges of the digital age“.

Aspasia’s advice

When asked what she would tell fellow teachers who are considering a MOOC, her advice is simple and heartfelt:

Do it. Even small changes inspired by the course can have a big impact on teaching and student engagement.”

Stories like Aspasia’s remind us that professional learning is not just about gaining new skills, but about creating ripples of change that reach students, schools, and entire communities.

At European Schoolnet Academy, we are proud to see how our MOOCs become part of these journeys. Learning should never be a solo journey. We go further, and achieve more, when we do it together.
